Kerala Governor to Inaugurate Company Secretaries' Meet Today

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will hold the 16th National Conference of Practicing Company Secretaries .

KOCHI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will hold the 16th National Conference of Practicing Company Secretaries here on Thursday and Friday.

Governor P Sathasivam will inaugurate the conference at the Bolgatty Palace Convention Centre at 11:45 am on Thursday. The theme of the conference is ‘PCS-Calibrating Competence for Achieving Excellence’.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will deliver a special address on ‘Grooming for Startups’ at 10:00 am on Friday.    “The conference will discuss sub-themes like ‘New Tools for Corporate Governance’ and ‘Emerging Areas of Practice and National Company Law Tribunal’,” said ICSI president Atul H Mehta in a press conference here on Wednesday.

Eminent persons and experts in the respective government departments, regulators, professionals and representatives from the corporate sector will address the conference. Around 500 delegates from across the country will take part in the conference.

“This is the first time the conference is being organised in Kerala. The meet will facilitate exchange of knowledge from across the country, which will in turn attract investment to the State and boost its development,” said ICSI council member and programme director Ahalada Rao V.

There will be seven technical sessions at the conference, comprising Secretarial Audit and Secretarial Standards - Expectations and Experiences; Internal Audit-CS can Play Pole; Mindset for Client Management; NCLT, Competition Law Compliance by Enterprises;  Court Craft and Art of Advocacy; Grooming for Startups; Annual Returns - Checks and Balances and GST- New area for Practice and New Norms for NBFCs.

Chief executive and officiating secretary Sutanu Sinha and programme coordinator C S Nagendra Rao attended the press meet.
