GCDA's Organic Vegetable Fair Tomorrow

KOCHI: The organic vegetable fair being organised by the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) will begin on Tuesday.

Actor Sreenivasan will inaugurate the fair at a function to be held at Rajendra Maidan here, where 20 stalls will be opened for public. The function will be presided over by GCDA chairman N Venugopal.

Hibi Eden MLA, Mayor Tony Chammany, District Collector M G Rajamanickam and Loudi Louis MLA will also attend the function. The programme is being jointly organised by the GCDA Recreation Club and the Thanal Nature Club.

According to the organisers, leading organic farming societies will participate in the fair. Professional farmers, both within the district and the neighbouring districts, will be setting up organic vegetable outlets at the fair. While the stalls will be free of cost, the farmers will have to pay electricity charges.

The fair is being organised as part of operation Adukkala, a project conceived by the GCDA and the district administration to popularise organic farming.
