'Stalls were Allotted Illegally to Team Solar at Biz Meet'

KOCHI:Aneesh S Prasad, program officer with the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), deposed before the Justice G Sivarajan Commission probing the solar scam case, here on Monday.

“Two stalls were allotted without proper verification to Team Solar, the company owned by key accused Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan, at the international conference held at Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram from March 11 to 23, 2012,” stated Aneesh.

According to Aneesh, the stalls were sanctioned after Team Solar filed an application for the same, and taking into consideration the popularity of the firm.

He said all the sessions held at the conference were videographed, for which a contract was signed with a person named Pournamy Vinod. Though it was decided to bring Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for the inauguration, he could not make it due to other engagements, and the event was inaugurated by Aryadan Muhammad.

On verification of the copies of the videos taken during the conference, the Commission found that the inaugural function was not videographed properly. Vinod deposed that he recorded only the inaugural function, and that he did not record the arrival/departure of Aryadan and his interaction with others at the function.

Meanwhile, Suresh Babu, a technical officer with the ANERT, submitted before the Commission that Team Solar sought subsidy for solar water heaters as many as 42 times.

According to him, he never met Saritha, and she did not visit his office seeking subsidy.
