

KOCHI:ISACA Cochin chapter organised a one-day conference on the theme Big Data and Data Analytics on Saturday.
The conference presented a platform for experts in the field to share their insights on growing importance of Big Data and Analytics and the need to manage the risks involved.
Vittal Raj, international vice president, ISACA said that as Indian companies have started unlocking the true potential of analytical solutions, it has become imperative for them to deploy an IT governance framework such as COBIT 5.
“This approach will help them in leveraging various analytical models across business operations and mitigate the potential risks,” he said.
During the panel discussion based on the topic ‘Big Data and Information Security’, the panelists shared their insights on how Big Data breaches will continue to get bigger. They also discussed that if there is not a robust governance framework to address this issue, an organisation is more likely to experience data, reputation and monetary loss.
Thivikrama Shenoy, president, ISACA Cochin Chapter said, “With the rising acceptance of big data and data analytics, we felt it was necessary to organise an event on this topic
which could help our members and organisations throughout India harness the power of analytics securely,” he said.
ISACA India Growth Task Force chairman Sunder Krishnan, Varghese Cherian - senior director, UST Global, Nirlap Vora - Practice Head SAS India and Kapil Mehta - CTO - South Enterprise Business Unit - IBM India presented papers.
