KOCHI: Harvesting of scientifically developed seeds of pearl spot(karimeen) at Kumbalangi was held on Monday. Karimeen seeds were developed as part of the action plan of Krishi Vignan Kendra for the year 2014-15.
The production unit was set up in the farm of Shibu Kocheri, a farmer in Kumbalangi.
The fish seed production unit was set up under the technical supervision of Krishi Vikas Kendra director P A Vikas. By setting up fish seed production, farmers can earn a remarkable extra income, pointed out Krishi Vignan Kendra officials.
Kumbalangi panchayat president Susan Joseph inaugurated the first sale of fish seeds. Pokkali farmer Firos Kolathara received the first sale.
