KOCHI: Expanding its research network, the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has taken steps to recognise other research institutes in the fisheries and oceanic sectors as its approved research centres. The varsity has invited applications from research institutions in the State, both public and private.
Once recognised, the research institutes will be able to offer PhD programmes under the KUFOS. The KUFOS offers the opportunity only to institutions that focus on research activities in fisheries, ocean studies and the allied areas. Recognition will be accorded on institutions that fulfil the university norms. Once application is received, a KUFOS team will visit the institute and review the facilities.
KUFOS offers PhD programmes under five faculties - Fisheries; Ocean Science and Technology; Ocean Engineering; Climate Change and Aquatic Ecosystem; and Management, Humanities and Social Science.
Guidelines and norms, fee details and application form are available on www.kufos.ac.in.
