KOCHI: The Network for Fish Quality Management and Sustainable Fishing (NETFISH), an agency under the Marine Products Export Development Authority, will organise an awareness programme at Munambam here as part of the second stage of extension activities of square mesh cod ends in trawl nets.
The awareness and consultation programme will be held at Fishing Boat Operators Association Hall at Munambam.
NETFISH officials informed that the programme is aimed at creating awareness and also to know the response of the fishing community on the efforts to promote sustainable means of fishing using square mesh cod end trawl nets.
An exhibition of square mesh cod ends would also be held as part of the programme, Santhosh N K, state co-ordinator of NETFISH stated.
K N Vimalkumar, joint director, MPEDA regional office, would inaugurate the programme. P P Girish, chairman, Fishing Boat Owners and Operators Co-ordination Committee, will preside.
