16 Injured in Bee Attack

IDUKKI:  Sixteen persons, including fourteen women, suffered injuries after being attacked by a swarm of bees near Thodupuzha on Monday. All of them were engaged in cleaning a field when they were stung by the bees.

The workers ran helter skelter and some jumped into nearby river to escape from the bees. It was one Mathew, who was working on his premises, who rushed to the rescue of the workers. He took them to the hospital. The bees had stung some of them multiple times, the police said.

The workers have been admitted to different government hospitals.

Meanwhile, the people in the region protested over the local body members for not visiting the injured.
