Youth Arrested for Giving Hoax Bomb Threat on Facebook

KOCHI:The Kalamassery police on Monday arrested a person who allegedly posted fake information about a bomb planted at a five star hotel through fake Facebook page. The arrested was identified as P Joshy, 25, of Mulavukkad.

According to S Vijayashankar, Sub-Inspector, Kalamassery, the accused created a Facebook page in the name of Batista Silva and sent a message that a bomb was planted at the hotel in Edappally on March 25. The police and bomb squad conducted thorough checking at the hotel before confirming it as hoax message.

“The accused who was depressed after being fired from his job at an online shopping company decided to post the fake message. According to him, he worked hard as agent of the online shopping company but was fired without proper reasons. He had completed diploma in computer science and was staying at a rented room near Edappally,” Police official said.

The accused coming to know that police were tracing him with the help of cyber cell, went absconding. Following a tip-off, he was arrested on Monday.

He was given bail from the police station and was released in the evening.
