Delicious Summer Fare

KOCHI: Temperature is soaring high these days causing lot of problems to your body and mind. But a lot depends on what one eats and drinks as food and water have an important role to play in keeping our body cool and healthy. Keeping that in mind, Crowne Plaza has come up with a Summer Food Fest to tickle Kochiites tastebuds for the season. “Since summer season is on its peak, we decided to have food that are healthy and cool to body. Besides from our daily dinner buffet spread, we have included live counters serving more of fruits, juices and salads,” says Chef Rajeev Menon, executive chef.

In the fest, from the live fruit and juice counter, one can have fresh cut seasonal fruits like jackfruit, mango, pineapple, papaya, watermelon, musk melon and much more, while juices like lemon and mint juice, Aam ka panna, buutter milk and jal jeera. Smoothies made from mango, strawberry and kiwi are also available. Then there is also chef special summer mocktail to sip in.

The main course platter is decked with live grills and barbecue which includes Jerk chicken wings, ginger-soya marinated beef medallions, Jamaican smoked chicken thighs, honey chilly rubbed quail, lamb/beef sausages, Asian spiced pork ribs, Beef kofta kebabs, coriander/chimichuri/masala grilled fish for the non vegetarians. And for the vegetarians there are delicacies like Cajun spiced pineapple, galangal and lemon grass grilled vegetables, grilled tomato with Mexican spice rub to name a few.

All the dishes are served with leafy green salad/tossed vegetable salad/pickled vegetables and condiments.

There are a variety of saucesa and salsas also available. It includes garlic mayo, mustard mayo, pineapple salsa, tomato- bellpepper salsa, plum and ginger sauce, mint and yogurt dip, orange and green olive salsa among many.

“The buffet spread will also have desserts made of local summer fruits like jackfruit and mango. Homemade ice cream and gelato counter will also be there with local flavours,” adds Rajeev.
