Celebrity Cricket Club to Play against UK Blasters Today

KOCHI: An exhibition cricket match will be played at Alliance Rugby Stadium in London on Saturday between Celebrity Cricket Club (C3) of Kerala and a Malayali cricket team from London, UK Blasters.

The event is organised by London-based Vintage Event Management. C3 will contribute their proceedings to endosulphan-affected victims in Kerala.

The one-day match is supported by the English Cricket Board (ECB), Middlesex Cricket County, and Club Cricket Conference, an organisation celebrating its centenarary.

Celebrity Cricket Club is a cricket team comprising celebrity members from Kerala, and a registered charity organisation that plays exhibition matches for various causes.

Nikhil K Mohan, of the Celebrity Cricket Club said, “We have earlier played in Sharjah in 2014 and the proceedings went to the Heart Care Foundation. We hope to continue such events that can contribute to the needy.”

Shaji Anandan, chairman of Vintage Event Management Ltd, acknowledged the help and support of ECB and said, “It is one of our innovative ideas to promote the team whilecontributing to charity. We are thankful for the support given by English Cricket Board and Middlesex county. We expect the event to give considerable mileage to the teams and associated groups.”C3 cricket team is led by captain Kunjako Boban.

The other members are Indrajith (VC), Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan, Saiju Kurup, Vijay Yesudas, Madhu Balakrishnan, Nikhil K Mohan, Prasanth Alexander, Sanju Sivaraman, Jojo George, Vinu Mohan, and Bineesh Kodiyeri.

The team will be accompanied by Deepu Santh and manager Davin Das.
