KOCHI:A total of 2,763 persons participated in the Medipress 2015, a multi-speciality medical camp organised by the Ernakulam Press Club here on Sunday. About 200 specialised doctors from 32 noted hospitals across the state attended the patients at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium Kadavanthra.

About 500 registered for special treatment and nearly 1,600 registered for continuing treatment. ECG, ultra scan and CT scan were done free of cost and the cost of the treatment of those people will be met by the Press Club.

A K Balyan, CEO and  MD of Petronet LNG, inaugurated the Medipress. He said the media should be driving force behind social change and developmental activities and the media should not sacrifice their ethics. Media should make use of e-library and e- work station to the maximum, he added. Southern Naval Command’s  INS Sanjeevani commanding officer surgeon Commodore Naveen Chawla was the chief guest while GCDA chairman N Venugopal presided over the function. Hibi Eden MLA, PSC chairman Dr KS Radhakrishnan, general manager M T Varghese, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, Corporation Opposition leader K J Jacob,councillor Leno Jacob, KUWJ general secretary N Padmanabhan, IMA Kochi unit president Dr Sunny Orathel and C G Rajagopal spoke on the occcasion. Press Club president K Ravi Kumar made the introduction speech while secretary S Unnikrishnan welcomed the gathering.
