KOCHI: A court remanded Jayesh Kumar, who was arrested from Kochi on Monday for allegedly cheating several engineering students in an admission fraud, while sending his wife, Raari Jayesh out on bail.
Pointing out an as yet irrelevant but notable link the case has with the Kavitha Pillai-involved MBBS admission scam, police said Raari is the sister of the second accused in the medical seat scam, Rash Lal.
“At this point, we have no reason to suspect that both cases are otherwise related. But that is a direction which is open for further examination,” the investigation officer said.
Kavitha Pillai was arrested last year for allegedly duping around `6 crore from MBBS students by promising them seats in a self-financing medical college.
In her statement, she had named Rash Lal as the brain behind the scam.
