FEMU to Hold Music Festival on May 23

KOCHI: The FEFKA Music Directors Union (FEMU) will organise a function to honour musicians and composers at a music festival to be held on May 23 at Gokulam Convention Centre here.

As many as 27 musicians will be honoured at the music night including Ilayaraja, Dr Balamurleekrishna, Sreekumaran Thampi, M K Arjunan, Jayan, MS Viswanathan and K J Yesudas, among others, said Rahul Raj, president of the FEMU. The returns from the event would go for a fund that would be used for the welfare of the disadvantaged music composers, he said.

At the music night, organised jointly by the FEMU and Black and White Creations, the union will also launch the South Indian Music Awards.

The music awards by the FEMU will include awards for best song mixing, best music programmer and for the best instrumental artist among other categories. The music awards will be given away in September. The FEMU would also unveil the plan to launch a rock band, which would also hit the stage in September, the office-bearers of the union informed.
