Maoist Couple to be Brought to Kochi Today

KOCHI: The Internal Security Investigation Team (ISIT) probing several Maoist cases in the state will produce Maoist leader Ropeesh and wife Shyna before Additional Sessions Court (CBI Court) in Kochi on Wednesday.

The court had issued a production warrant against the couple for arranging a hideout for Maoist central committee member Malla Raja Reddy and wife Beecha Sugana at Angamaly in 2007. When Malla Raja Reddy and wife were arrested by Andhra police, Ropeesh and Shyna destroyed important pamphlets and the computer at the rented house where they were hiding.

ISIT officials said that a team comprising members of armed police and commando unit would accompany ISIT officials from Coimbatore jail, where the two are currently lodged. The team would be producing the couple at the court in the afternoon. “Security arrangements have been made to bring the wanted couple to Kochi.

A team under Assistant Commissioner of Police will supervise the security arrangements. Besides, bomb and dog squads would be deployed at the court complex. A commando unit and armed policemen would accompany them from Coimbatore. We would file a petition seeking the custody of the accused on Wednesday,” ISIT official said.
