'Drug' Party: Russian DJ Vasily Gets Bail

KOCHI: Russian DJ Vasily Markelo, 37, alias DJ Psykovsky, who was arrested along with six Keralites for possessing banned narcotic substance, was released on bail on Monday. Psykovsky was granted bail by the Judicial First  Class Magistrate Court, Thopumpady. According to police officials, Vasily was granted bail on Sunday itself after he was produced at the residence of the magistrate. But, since he could not bring any solvent surety to execute the bail, he was lodged in jail. “Since the quantity of the seized narcotic substance was very small, all the accused were granted bail.

A relative of Psykovsky’s friend stood surety for him. The passport of Vasily is still with us. A directive has been issued to investigate violation of the Foreigners Act - not informing the Foreigners Regional Registration Office about stay in India,” police officials said. Psykovsky and six others were arrested in the middle of a DJ party at a hotel in the city on Saturday.

The others who were arrested in the raid, Sebastian, 24, of Vyttila; Kottayam-natives Rahul Pratap, 20, and Sumit S Pai, 25; and Thrissur-natives Safwal, 22, and Gautam, 25, were released on bail on Sunday. In the raid, the  police had recovered a packet containing narcotic substance from Vasily, which is suspected to have contents of marijuana.

Ganja and ketamine were recovered from the others persons. The police are still searching for the persons who  supplied the drugs to the arrested .
