A Summer Camp Which Aims at Social Equity

KOCHI: The Belong Foundation in Kochi  conducted a two-day summer camp for the underprivileged students at Puthuvype. The camp was conducted as part of the community development programme of the foundation. The Belong Foundation is a network of volunteers working to create social equity by developing the community through children.

The summer camp was held at Vypeen Shanmukhananda auditorium. Various programmes were conducted to develop the leadership qualities and teamwork among the students which included personality development sessions, martial arts sessions, yoga, cooking competition and various other games. More than seventy students and thirty volunteers  participated in the camp. Certificates were given to students who got high marks in SSLC examination.

The purpose of the camp was to improve leadership qualities and team work among children. The Belong Foundation, a nonprofit organisation working for the betterment of kids from underprivileged communities, was formed a year ago by a group of youngsters working in and around Kochi. It has been conducting mentoring sessions for the students of Puthuvype since last one year.
