HC Rejects Plea for Facility to Consume Booze

KOCHI: The Kerala high Court has dismissed the petition seeking a directive to the State Government to provide facilities to consume liquor near the outlets of Bevco and Consumerfed. The petitioner approached the Division Bench after a Single Judge dismissed an earlier plea in this regard.

The petitioner argued that the government should provide proper facilities to consume  the liquor purchased from government-approved outlets. “Since consuming alcohol in public places is an offence, people are forced to take it to their homes. Consuming alcohol in the house affects the peaceful atmosphere at home, and often leads to incidents of domestic violence. Therefore, it is essential to provide proper facilities near the liquor outlets for consuming liquor,” submitted the petitioner.
