KOCHI: Events like Women Entrepreneurs’ (WE) Summit will help in understanding women better, said Walmart India vice president Rajneesh Kumar. He added that understanding women is crucial since they constitute the major consumer segment and they are the ones who make the purchasing decision in a family. He was speaking to ‘Express’ on the sidelines of the WE Summit 2015 here on Thursday. “Walmart sources about $20 billion worth of products from women entrepreneurs for the US market and the value doubles outside US. In India we source products from 30 women owned businesses. Currently many states including Kerala are giving thrust to promoting women entrepreneurs, which is a welcome move,” he said. When asked about the emergence of the e-commerce platform, he pointed out that majority of the buying decisions in the country are digitally influenced.
