'Gender Equality Row Pointless'

KOCHI:  The Council of Principals of Colleges in Kerala has observed that the controversies over gender equality were pointless, which might have a far-reaching impact on the State’s education sector.

Speaking at a one-day symposium organised at St Teresa’s College here the other day, he said the recent developments would debilitate the spirit of academicians, while also acting as a cause of concern for parents. “Teachers have a role to play in building the character of students. For that, they will have to monitor students, both in classrooms and on the campus. To term such practices as ‘moral policing’ is not good. It will certainly quell the spirit of the faculty,” said Council of Principals of Colleges in Kerala general secretary T M Joesph.
