KOCHI: The Kerala Cartoon Academy on Wednesday bestowed its Fellowship Award on T V G Menon,  cartoonist and a senior member of the Academy, in a ceremony here. Mayor Soumini Jain inaugurated the function which was presided over by Prasannan Anikkad, chairman, Cartoon Academy.

Veteran cartoonist Yesudasan was the chief guest. Justice Hariharan Nair, retired Justice of Kerala High Court, P Ramachandran Nair, general secretary, Ernakulam Karayogam and renowned painter T. Kaladharan spoke.

T V G Menon, who draws cartoons under the nom-de plume  ‘menon’ has stamped the cartooning  field with his unique style of thought and rendition.

A native of Ernakulam, Menon  started his professional Career in BHEL Bhopal in 1962. He then moved on to the then English Electric Company  in Chennai in 1972 . From there he retired as the General Manager of their Relay Division in the year 2000 .

Even during those hectic professional days he  found time to pursue his pet hobby of cartooning, albeit on a subdued  scale. After retirement he turned to serious cartooning.  He veered away from the political cartooning route and concentrated on social and other subjects clothing  them in rib-tickling  humour which made people laugh and think simultaneously. His works now appear in the various social media regularly.
