Russian Federation Keen to Expand Commercial Relations with State

KOCHI:  Trade Commissioner of the Russian Federation to India Yaroslav Tarasyuk said that trade relations with Russian Federation and Kerala needed to be enhanced. He was speaking at an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kerala chapter with the 10-member business delegation from Tomsk Region, Russian Federation, in Kochi on Wednesday with the objective to explore possible business opportunities between the two countries. Yaroslav added that the delegation is interested in having bilateral relations with India especially in areas such as pharma, infrastructure, nano material, plywood and water treatment. He said that Tomsk region in Russia is famous for research and development, education and technology. Yaroslav welcomed industry participants from Kerala for joint trade in these areas. The interactions were followed by B2B meetings with the participants from CII and the delegation from Russia.

CII Kerala State Council chairman V P Nandakumar delivered the welcome address at the Session. He said Kerala is the hub for food processing, ayurveda, tourism, IT, rubber, coir, spices and fisheries and requested the delegation to build trade relations with Kerala in these sectors.

KSIDC AGM Sebastian Thomas welcomed the delegation for joint venture in sectors such as health with special focus on cancer and thyroid, education and innovation. He said  Russia should look at curing cancer through personalised treatment method using ayurveda.

The delegation includes Director of the Centre of Development of Foreign Economic Activity in Tomsk Beliaev Aleksandr,Russian Centre for Science and Culture  Honorary Consul Ratish Nair and Regency Group Director Abhilash Pillai.
