Children paint their visions on canvas

The eighth season of the painting and sculpture exhibition was conducted by Cithralaya School of Arts in Tripunithura.

KOCHI: The eighth season of the painting and sculpture exhibition and sale, conducted by Cithralaya School of Arts at Nagarasabham Layam Koothambalam, Tripunithura, from the 23rd to the 27th of May was inaugurated by Prof. M K Sanu. The paintings and sculptures of 72 kids, aged 5 - 18, were displayed in the exhibition.

“The children were free to choose the theme for their own paintings. Pinning them to a specific topic curbs their creativity,” said the organisers. Around 100 paintings and sculptures were displayed in the exhibition. The paintings were mostly centered around nature and the callous attitude of the people of the time. A few of them dealt with the issue of water scarcity and how it impacts living creatures. While some paintings showed the caging of both man and wild, others talked of freedom and dreams.

The clay-modeled sculptures and painings, painted with water colours, acrylic paints, canvas paints and pen drawings, proved once again that age is no bar when it came to art.
