KOCHI: Two members of a family had a narrow escape when their brand new car caught fire on Container Road here on Friday morning.   Naushad A of Kuttikattukara and his 12-year-old son were travelling in their Suzuki Baleno car to the boy’s school at Edappally when the accident occurred.

“It has been only three months since I purchased the car. I stopped the car as soon as I noticed smoke coming out of it, and we got out of it quickly. Soon, the car was engulfed in fire,” said Naushad, sounding relieved.   Later, Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived and extinguished the fire. A traffic block caused by the accident on Container Road delayed arrival of the Fire Force.   Meanwhile, officials at Nexa showroom at Palarivattom, from where Naushad bought the car, told ‘Express’ that the car was taken to the service centre, and that a team from Delhi would inspect it on Saturday.
