Temple theft case: two arrested

KOCHI: THE Njarakkal police on Saturday arrested two youths hailing from Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the theft of valuables from the Njarakkal Nedungadu Kollerithara Temple in September 2015.

According to the police, Latheesh, 25, and Anilkumar, 22, of Kunnathazhikathu Veettil, Chirayinkeezhu, were arrested from their residence near the Parippally Polachira Temple in Kollam, where the duo was living in exile after the theft. Neethu, wife of Latheesh, is also an accused in the case.

The ‘thiruvabharanam’ weighing 3.5 sovereigns of gold was stolen in September 2015, when Latheesh was serving as a priest in the temple. The culprits were arrested by a team led by Njarakkal SI Rejeesh Kumar.
