St Albert's College granted autonomous status by the UGC

St Albert’s College, Kochi, has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

KOCHI: St Albert’s College, Kochi, has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), considering the institution’s contributions in the realm of higher education. Autonomy in academic matters will enable the college to introduce the necessary changes in the curriculum.

With this, St Albert’s will join the league of autonomous institutions including St Teresa’s, Sacred Heart, Maharaja’s College and Rajagiri College of Social Sciences.

It was in 2015, the government gave nod to the college to proceed with procedures for availing autonomous status. The new status was accorded following evaluation by an expert panel appointed by the University Grants Commission.

An official release stated that admission to academic programmes under the autonomous system, for the academic year 2016-2017, were available online.

The college offers 17 undergraduate courses, 12 postgraduate courses and six research programmes.
