Anil said movies with women in lead roles often fail to click at the Kerala box office. “Despite Surabhi’s award-winning performance, which made the film a talking point, it has not been able to draw massive crowds in the initial two days.

“Minnaminungu’ has been branded an award film, and usually the film-goers in Kerala are prejudiced against such films. The audience here are used to fight and romance scenes,” he said.

Surabhi Laxmi requested everyone to watch the movie. “It will be a great satisfaction if people go to theatres, watch the movie and respond to it,” she said.
