Man found in sack near Kochi was murdered: Cops

 The Panangad police on Thursday registered an FIR in connection with the recovery of a body kept in a gunny sack and dumped in a lake at Nettoor on Wednesday.

KOCHI: The Panangad police on Thursday registered an FIR in connection with the recovery of a body kept in a gunny sack and dumped in a lake at Nettoor on Wednesday.According to the police, the person found inside the sack was smothered to death. However, the identity of the man aged around 40 is yet to be ascertained.The investigation of the case registered at the Panangad police station has been transferred to the South Circle Inspector Siby Tom. “The inquest and autopsy procedures were completed on Thursday. A cloth was shoved into the mouth of the person, before smothering him to death.

Also, his face was covered using an adhesive tape. We believe the incident is a case of murder and an FIR has been registered in this regard,” the police said. Citing medical reports, the officers said the death happened due to suffocation.The body was found floating in the backwaters of Nettoor by locals on Wednesday. The body was found in the sack with limbs tied.
