National Ayurveda Day to be observed on Tuesday

KOCHI: Minister for Health and Social Justice KK Shailaja will inaugurate the state-level observance of the National Ayurveda Day here on Tuesday. The programme is being organised jointly by the National Ayush Mission, Indian Systems of Medicine, Department of Ayurveda Medical Education, Ayurveda Drugs Control Division, Medicinal Plants Board and Ayurveda Medical Association of India. 

Hibi Eden MLA will preside over the function to be held at Rama Varma Club, Ernakulam, at 4.30 pm. Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain will be the chief guest.

A free pain clinic and bone density test camp will be organised at the programme venue. Treatment will be provided to the first 100 patients who register their names at the District Ayurveda Hospital, Kacherippady. This apart,  medicinal plants and ‘dhooma choornam’, a mosquito repellant, will also be distributed free of cost. Eminent ayurvedic practitioners will be felicitated on the occasion.

As part of the observance, a free mega ayurveda medical camp will be conducted at Kalamassery on the same day. An ayurvedic science exhibition will be organised at Tripunithura on Tuesday as part of the celebration. A state-level seminar on ‘Pain management through Ayureda’, the theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day observance, will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on October 20.
