KOCHI: Well, when nature comes calling and its time to go, men find it easier compared to women to relieve themselves. The city really tests the holding capability of it helpless female residents. They have to make a mad dash to hotels, restaurants or malls in search of a loo.

Many times ending up ordering the unwanted coffee or snack just to use the toilet. Raji P, a teacher at a private school said an inadequate number of toilets in the city and improper maintenance of the existing ones need to be addressed urgently. 

“People talk so much about women empowerment, but when it comes to providing them with basic facilities and that too in a supposed metro city all the hype and hoopla falls flat,” she said.According to many women, public toilets in the city are a nightmare.

“Most of these toilets are filthy and unsafe. So we don’t use them,” said Reji Jose, housewife. For Molly G home is the safest bet. “If  I want to go, I wait till I reach home. The toilets at the bus stands are so dirty, one might end up contracting an infectio,” she said.
