West Kochi residents to get potable water soon

The potable water woes of Western Kochi residents will soon be, well, water under the bridge.

KOCHI: The potable water woes of Western Kochi residents will soon be, well, water under the bridge.
The decade-long efforts of laying water pipes to provide the residents with water to drink are on the verge of completion. District Collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla has assured all that the pipe-laying process from Perumanoor pump house to Karuvelippady will be over by March 20.

He has already directed authorities concerned to carry out the job on war footing.
The pipe-laying efforts were mulled in 2005, but received administration sanction from the government only in 2014. Despite the sanction, road digging still could not begin for various years.
The replacing of old pipes restarted on January 27. The collector had issued prior permission as per the disaster management rules.
“The technical issues revolving around road digging have been resolved completely. The process will be over by March 20,” Safirulla said.
