KOCHI: Collecting data from private hospitals is a major problem when it comes to database formation and evaluation in the health care sector. To counter this, the ‘United for Healthy Ernakulam App’ was launched here the other day by Health Minister K K Shylaja.

The app will collect reports from private hospitals in the district. “The government is looking at options to collect comprehensive data on the health sector in the state. Proper organisation, quality and protocol are kept in mind when we look at such initiatives,” said Shylaja, after the launch. “The government will soon have an antibiotic policy to prevent the misuse of antibiotics.

The new policy is aimed at stopping the overuse of antibiotics and to ensure a person takes a full course of antibiotic when prescribed. Health card records will also be completed soon. The government will continue to give emphasis to preventive measures,” she added. The U4HE app is a joint effort by National Health Mission, Indian Academy of Pediatrics and the Indian Medical Association.
