Those who purchase above Rs 1,000 will also get a chance to contest in a lucky draw  which will be held every 24 hours,” said an official with Lulu.

Bevco expects a windfall

The Kerala State Beverages Corporation Ltd, the sole wholesaler of liquor in the state, is expecting a liquor sale of over Rs 450 crore in the 10 days of Onam celebration in this year.
The Corporation could record a revenue of Rs 440.6 crore in the last year Onam sales.

We hope this Onam season, the sale of liquor will cover over Rs 450 crore,” said an officer with the BEVCO requesting not to reveal his identity.

As per the report available with the Corporation, liquor sales in the state sees an upward trend. As per the report of Finance Minister tabled before the Cabinet, Bevco received a revenue of Rs 8,277cr in 2014-15, Rs 9,787 cr in 2015-16, Rs 10,353cr in 2016-17 and Rs11,024 cr in 2017-18.
“Not just the quantity, we have also concentrated on the quality of liquor served through the outlet. Inspection and other drives are planned ahead of the season,” said Sparjan Kumar, managing director, Bevco.
