KOCHI: A seven-day ‘Punarjani’ camp by NSS volunteers of Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) got under way at the Ernakulam Government Medical College, Kalamassery, here. Hospital superintendent Peter inaugurated the camp.
Over the next couple of days, the 50 participating students will repair hospital and biometric equipment and even provide a fresh coat of paint to some of the areas in the college.
The inaugurtion of the camp also saw a procession by the NSS volunteers on the medical college campus.
“We are helping them build or recover their assets. The assets will be valued by the hospital after we present them back to the hospital authorities. A report will be handed over to NSS authorities following which we will conclude ‘Punarjani’,” said Prince Kora, programme coordinator, MITS.
Also working with the initiative are Dr Chikku Abraham, Dr Manoj George, Dr Gylson Thomas, C Velappan, NSS technical cell programme coordinator Ajitha and Sajeev, store superintendent at the hospital.
