AV Ramana given additional charge of Cochin Port Trust chief

A V Ramana, presently deputy chairman of the Cochin Port Trust(CPT), on Friday was given additional charge of CPT chairman by the Union Ministry of Shipping. 

KOCHI: A V Ramana, presently deputy chairman of the Cochin Port Trust(CPT), on Friday was given additional charge of CPT chairman by the Union Ministry of Shipping. He had joined the CPT as Deputy Chairman in August 2016. Ramana is an ME (Mechanical) from BITS Pilani. He was Chief Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, Kolkata Port Trust and was instrumental in facilitating integrated container operations through OOM (Own Operate and Maintain) model. He also worked as Chief Administrative Officer, Indian Ports' Association and Deputy Director, Indian Maritime University. 

Having 28 years' experience in the ports' sector, Ramana was associated with the Sethusamudram Public Hearing Committee. Besides, he has been a Member of the Chennai- based technical committee on infrastructure issues related to Indian Maritime University (IMU). He is also associated with preparation of the statute for IMU, according to a release.
