KOCHI: The fifth convocation of the Kochi-based Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) will be held on Monday at its Panangad main campus.
P Sathasivam, Kerala Governor and KUFOS Chancellor, will deliver the convocation address and confer degrees to 219 undergraduate and post-graduate students, who have successfully completed their courses in 2017-2018 academic year in different disciplines related to fisheries and ocean science.
The Governor will also award Gold Medals to 18 meritorious students who have secured first rank in their course and two endowment awards.
J Mercykutty Amma, Minister for Fisheries, Harbour Engineering, Cashew industry and Pro Chancellor of KUFOS, will deliver the presidential address in the convocation, which will be welcomed by KUFOS Vice-Chancellor A Ramachandran.
KUFOS Governing Council members E T Taison MLA, A N Shamseer MLA, M Swaraj MLA, John Fernadez MLA, and K V Thomas MP will deliver special addresses.
V M Victor George, Registrar of the University, will propose a vote of thanks.
219 degrees awarded
Out of the 219 degrees awarded, 49 are bachelor degrees in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc).
All other degrees being awarded at the convocation are Post-Graduate degrees, which include 15 MBAs, 112 MSc /M.Tech, 31 M.F.Sc, and 12 LLM (Maritime Law).
