Drumming to the right beats

The rock Band Afro de Asia led by eminent drummer Shyam Suraj popularly known as Shyam Rock will be performing at Oberon Mall on Saturday.

KOCHI: The rock Band Afro de Asia led by eminent drummer Shyam Suraj popularly known as Shyam Rock will be performing at Oberon Mall on Saturday. The band which performs on African music is widely known for its unique style.Shyam has brought a traditional drummer from National Dance Company Ghana along with a set of traditional African drums and trained him to facilitate a drum circle.

The first event call came from prestigious Infosys which was a great success and powerful reference, followed by Hewlett Packard and IBM. From there till date he never had to look back because the concept is well accepted by corporate giants as well as various communities resulting to do more than 1000’s of shows across the globe. Meanwhile he also got systematic training from Arthur Hull (Village Music California) who is globally known as the Guru of drum circle facilitators. 

The band has done more shows outside Kerala and abroad but intends to conduct more performances in the state in coming years. The performers follow a different style and also make audience participate in their performance.  Shyam Rock will be accompanied by a 5-6 member team and the team will be performing from 7.30 in the evening. The day also marks the 10th anniversary of Oberon Mall.
