KOCHI: Three police officers, including a sub-inspector, sustained injuries after four men, accused of stealing a vehicle, attacked them at Perumbavoor police station on Friday. The cops were collecting fingerprint samples of the gang when they were pounced upon. SI Rins M Thomas suffered a fractured hand.

Thanseer, 23, of Thrissur; Ajith, 23, of Malappuram; Christopher, 32, of Kozhikode; and, Riyad, 24, of Angamaly, were arrested for their involvement in the theft of a vehicle at Malamuri, in Perumbavoor police limits.

The heist was carried out earlier this month, following which they fled to Mangaluru. However, they were arrested by Karnataka police in another case. They were transferred to the custody of Perumbavoor police with the Mangaluru court’s permission.

The accused also misbehaved with the woman officer who was on duty. They were later shifted to Kuruppampady police station. “The arrest will be recorded after they are produced before the Mangaluru court,” an officer said.
