Kochi-based homemade brand Mad Over Ice Cream helmed by mumpreneur Renu Abraham has introduced a season’s special that fuses tradition with a modern, indulgent twist — a DIY Onam Sundae.
The dessert pairs generous scoops of classic palada and banana ice creams with a crunchy, well-sealed papadam. “The heady pazham-papadam-payasam combination after a wholesome sadya is legendary,” says Renu with a smile. “I thought, why not give it an ice-creamy twist?”
The DIY sundae combo that serves four will be home-delivered in a customised, reusable steel container set, and is priced at Rs 1,200.
“Each batch of ice cream is made to order with fresh and authentic payasam and cherupazham (lady finger banana), ensuring quality and flavour. I use only natural ingredients — no artificial essence or preservatives,” adds Renu, who has been experimenting with flavours such as filter kaapi with chocolate shards, ‘Brown Bomb’ (chocolate ice cream with brownie), lotus biscoff cream cheese, popcorn, and salted caramel.
