Ritwik Ghatak Film Fest in City

KOLKATA: On the occasion of the 40 death anniversary Ritwik Ghatak, a festival of his films will be held in the city from April 8.

The six-day festival, to commemorate the 40th year of his death, will feature classics like Nagarik, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Komal Gandhar, Subarnarekha, Titas –Ekti Nadir Naam and Jukti Takko ar Galpo.

The festival will be inaugurated by eminent filmmaker Goutam Ghosh and Samita Ghatak, daughter of Ritwik Ghatak.

Ghosh said the festival was needed to bring awareness about Ritwik Ghatak among the present-day Bengali audience.

The festival, to be held in Priya theatre, is being jointly organised by the Ritwik Ghatak Memorial Trust and actor-film distributor and Priya Entertainments MD Arijit Dutta.

Ritiwk Ghatak had died on February 6, 1976.
