MUMBAI: Seven teenagers from the western Mumbai suburb of Andheri have been arrested and police are looking for eight more after a 16-year-old boy lodged a complaint that he was being blackmailed with a video of sodomy.
According to the teenager’s statement, he was sodomised a year ago by a boy from the D N Nagar neighbourhood who made a video clip of the act and shared it with friends who then began to exploit him in a similar way.
The teenager said he was threatened and blackmailed into silence and subjected to further exploitation. After the last time, they had unnatural sex with the victim on July 26, the boy who was left in severe pain.
He confided about it to a friend who took him to an NGO. The case was thus brought to the notice of the police. Seven of the 15 boys involved in the crime were arrested and sent to a remand home in Dongri.
The victim was taken to Cooper Hospital for a medical examination.
A FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been filed against 15 boys, most of whom are from the same locality and are aged 15-17.
