THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “I am here to help you to celebrate life in all possible ways. I am here to help you to dance deeply with life, to sing the song that is in your heart and to flower to your optimum.’’
These are the words of Osho, the mystic who transformed life into a celebration for millions, cutting across the boundaries of countries.
Here is good news for those who find a ‘Guru’ or master in Osho. ‘Silence’, an exclusive Osho bookshop and lending library, has been opened at Capitol Centre, Statue.
It was P.C. Jossy (Amano Akhil), a devotee of Osho, who started the bookshop in January. It was he who started the first Osho shop in Kerala at Kozhikode in 1999. A former Naxalite, Jossy got inspiration from his wife Syamala to practise meditation as per the teachings of Osho.
“When I opened the shop in Kozhikode, there were not many takers for his books. There was some misunderstanding about Osho there,’’ he said.
Now, the Osho bookshop is functioning as an Osho information centre. It is also conducting a meditation camp in association with Osho’s Pune’s ashram.
Jossy said that presently, more and more upper middle class people are getting attracted to the teachings of Osho. “There is an Osho in everyone. He has not advocated conventional spirituality. He advises making life a celebration,’’ he said.
Jossy said there were 400 members in the lending library in Kozhikode and 300 in Kochi. Thirty persons have joined so far as members in Thiruvananthapuram.
There are over 300 titles by Osho in the bookshop. CDs, DVDs, audio cassettes and ‘Osho Times’ are available here. Many of the titles which had gone out of print are also available for distribution. Around 50 Malayalam titles, also by Osho, are on the shelves. ‘Rebel Books’ being published by the Pune Ashram of Osho, are there. There is a great demand for titles like ‘India - My love’, ‘Meditation, first and last freedom’, ‘Art of ecstasy’, ‘From sex to superconsciousness’, yoga titles like, ‘Path of yoga’ and ‘War and peace’, an interpretation of Bhagawad Gita.
Jossy’s wife Syamala is now translating another title, ‘Words like fire’, into Malayalam.
‘An autobiography of an incorrect spiritual mystic’ by Osho also has many takers. CDs and DVDs are in great demand in Thiruvananthpuram, he said. Those interested can contact Jossy over phone 0471-23042172, 9349119640.
