Nine-member team visits Ashapura co

A nine-member team had examined the Ashapura Minechem Ltd, Menamkulam, and verified the facilities installed there.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A nine-member team had examined the Ashapura Minechem Limited, Menamkulam, and verified the facilities installed there. The visit was as per the directive of the Kerala High Court.

 The team, led by Thiruvananthapuram Sub-Collector K.Biju, comprised the district medical officer and district environmental officer among others. The petitioners Fr.Labrin Yesu and Mary Valsala and Ashapura factory GM P.Satheesh Kumar were also part of the team. The company was attacked by a group of local people some weeks ago alleging that it was polluting the environment and causing uneasiness to the locals.

 They examined the availability of ground water drawing facility inside the company, rainwater harvesting facility, air monitoring system, pollution control equipment, water treatment plant and complete recycling system. The team will submit its report to the High Court soon.

 In a press note issued here, Ashapura Minechem GM Satheesh Kumar said that the company could convince the team that all allegations levelled against it were baseless.
