THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: EduWorld, an initiative of experienced academics and professionals, is  organising a competition to identify the student geniuses of standards  X, XI and XII in Thiruvananthapuram district.

The competition, titled ‘EduWorld Genius Hunt-2009’, will be held from August 1 to August 31. It will identify the gifted and highly intelligent students through scientifically-designed and validated online IQ tests. The school with the maximum number of highly intelligent and talented students will be awarded the School of the Genius Award.

The programme is aimed at identifying highly intelligent and talented students in higher secondary classes for motivating them to be  inspired for excellence in their education and career, said EduWorld Chief Academic Consultant V.S. Jayakumar.

Many of the students, who have tremendous potential and are likely to be geniuses, often go unidentified owing to lack of awareness or opportunities. The right type of training will take them to the pinnacles of their career through education, he said.

Students with IQ above 130 will be awarded the Student Genius-2009 prize. The top five students will be awarded the EduWorld Genius-2009 honour. Students with high IQ will be considered for special scholarships for IIT-JEE coaching in association with TIME, the leading institution for IIT-JEE training here. TIME would offer scholarships of up to 50 percent on the course fee for the two-year IIT-JEE training to the winners of the competition.

The genius students will be provided with regular information, guidance and counselling for excellence in career by experts through the career orientation programmes of EduWorld. They will also be given the opportunity to interact with the world’s top scientists and professionals through the EduWorld portal for excellence in science education and research.
