THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 125th year celebrations and inauguration of the community hall of Shaiva Prakasha Sabha will be held from October 27 to November 11 on the Shaiva Prakasha Sabha premises on Attakulangara Bypass Road.
Speaker G Karthikeyan will inaugurate the celebrations on October 27 at 5 pm. Sabha president K Raveendran will preside over the function. V Sivankutty MLA, Councillor Usha Satheesh, Dr M G Sashibhooshan, Prof N Rajagopalan and P R S Murukan will offer felicitations. Sabha vice-president K Kuttalam Pillai will welcome the gathering and secretary S T Arashu will deliver the valedictory address.
The programmes include Tamil speeches, music and dance performances, debate and symposium. The highlight of the celebrations include lectures by eminent Tamil scholars, including Dr A Arivoli, Saraswathi Ramanathan and Dr Selvaganapathi. Prof P Namasivayam will be the mediator of the 'vazhakadu manram' to be held on October 29. D R Anpazhakan and Vyjayanthi Rajan will participate.
The public can attend the programmes as well. Former Chief Secretary Babu Jacob will preside over the valedictory function at 5 pm on November 4.
