First synthetic multi-purpose court inaugurated

The first synthetic multi-purpose court in the state built under the SMILE-2012 (Sports Minister’s Infrastructural Leap to Excellence) project was inaugurated at Vithura Vocational Higher Secondary School here on Monday.

 The court was inaugurated by Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan at a function presided over by Sports Minister K B Ganesh Kumar.  

Ganesh Kumar, in his speech, said that a sports policy which would ensure transparency in the field of sports would be formulated soon.

 The construction of the court cost Rs 25 lakh and, in the next phase, a roof will also be built, he said.

 Shafi Parambil MLA, Vithura panchayat president A B Vipin, National Games Secretariat CEO Jacob Punnoose, Sports Council president Padmini Thomas, Sports and Youth Affairs director Amit Mallick also took part in the function.
