Vizhinjam police on Saturday arrested a man from Tamil Nadu for bringing ration rice and wheat for selling in the black market. Police said that they  arrested the man during a routine raid conducted on the directive of south zone ADGP in view of the increasing instances of hoarding and black marketing of ration food grains.

The arrested was identified as Farooq, 22, son of Mohammad Kannu of Ambedkar Colony, Kalingarajapuram, Ezhudesam, Tamil Nadu. According to police, he had brought 40 bags of ration rice and 40 bags of ration wheat in a mini lorry ( KL1 AM 3400) to  sell here in the black market, in view of the spiralling rice price.

He would be produced in the court on Sunday.

Vizhinjam Circle Inspector Stuart Healer, Sub Inspector J Sanal, civil police officers Anilkumar and Rajan participated in the raid.
