THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that the KPCC meeting held here on Tuesday had discussed the demand of the IUML for fifth ministerial berth with due importance.

‘’Muslim League is the second largest party in the UDF fold. The Congress will not behave as a big brother. Considering the views expressed at the meet and also taking various factors into account, the Congress high command will take a final decision,’’ he told a media briefing after the KPCC meet here.  He maintained that the demand for the fifth minister was seriously taken up only at the last UDF meeting thereby discounting the stance of IUML leadership that there was a commitment from the Congress on this score.

Asked on the hitch in inducting Anoop as a minister, Chennithala said that a decision will be taken on all pertinent issues at the earliest. ‘’There is a feeling that issues should not be left to fester,’’he said.

To a query whether the meet felt that there was any justification on the part of IUML demanding a fifth ministerial berth, the KPCC president evaded a direct reply. ‘’It is not a question just or unjust demand. The matter will be taken up with the party high command,’’ he said.

Asked whether there was any firm commitment or deal to make Selvaraj the Congress/UDF candidate in Neyyatinkara, Chennithala replied that there was no such deal.

‘’It is a question of winnability in the bypoll which will be considered. And it will be decided once the notification for  the poll is issued,’’he said, refusing to answer further queries.
