April is not the cruellest month, at least for film buffs. A string of big releases, including superstar films, are lined up to keep you entertained all through Easter, Vishu and summer vacation.
The first film to hit theatres this season is Jose Thomas’s ‘Mayamohini’ which has Dileep all dolled up as a woman. The film also stars Biju Menon, Lakshmi Rai, Mythili and Baburaj. Next on offer is ‘Cobra’, the Mammootty-starrer directed by Lal and produced by Play House and Lal Media. The highlight of the action-comedy will be the hit Mammootty-Lal combo. Kaniha and Padmapriya are the lead ladies.
‘22 Female Kottayam’, one of the most anticipated film this season, has Fahad Fazil and Rima Kallingal playing the leads. Ashiq Abu’s next outing after the blockbuster ‘Salt n’ Pepper’, the film is a dark emotional thriller. M Padmakumar’s ‘Thiruvambadi Thampan’ has Jayaram in the lead and newbie Haripriya as the heroine. Jayaram plays an elephant contractor in the film while the supporting cast includes Kalabhavan Mani, Nedumudi Venu, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jagathy Sreekumar.
‘Grandmaster’, UTV’s maiden production venture in Malayalam, is another big release in the pipeline. B Unnikrishnan and Mohanlal come together after ‘Madambi’, in the film which has a stellar cast including Narain, Priyamani, and Jagathy Sreekumar. Diphan’s latest outing ‘Hero’ has Prithviraj in the lead. Model and television actress Yami Gautham is the heroine while Kollywood actors Srikanth, Thalaivasal Vijay and Bala appear in crucial roles. Hopes are high for Dulquer Salman’s second film ‘Ustad Hotel’, directed by Anwar Rasheed. Thilakan and Nithya Menon also play important roles in the film. Vyshakh’s ‘Mallu Singh’ has an ensemble cast with Unni Mukundan playing the lead. Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon, Manoj K Jayan, Samvrutha Sunil and Meera Nandan are also part of the romcom.
