THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On Good Friday, thousands of faithful in the city observed the Stations of the Cross, commemorating Jesus Christ’s final journey bearing the cross to Calvary, in a solemn procession through the city.

 The mass procession was taken out jointly by the Latin Church, Syro Malankara Church and Syro Malabar Church from the St Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Palayam, at 7 am.

 Major Archbishop Baselios Cleemis delivered the inaugural message and Archbishop Soosaipakiam, the concluding message.

 Similar processions were taken out under various parishes of Christian denominations all over the city.

 At the famous Madre de Deus Church, Vettucaud, Good Friday ceremonies commenced  at 6 am. The Way of the Cross, attended by hundreds of believers, was held at 3 pm.

The ceremonies on Holy Saturday will begin at 11 pm, and will be followed by a Holy Mass. Easter services will be held at 7.30 am on Sunday.
